Engineering Later Entry & Apprenticeships
1. Engineering Diploma holders with excellent academic
records can directly enter 2nd year of Engineering degree
courses.
2. Others with Engineering Diploma can enter the first year of
Engineering degree programme through the Entrance Test.
3. Engineering Diploma holders can upgrade to a level equal
to B.E/B.Tech in relevant trades by doing the Post-Diploma
Engineering Diploma course.
4. Engineering Diploma holders can also take up the Training
of Crafts Instructors conducted by the Directorate General
of Emplopyment and Training (DGET) through its Advanced
Training Institutes (ATI). Successful trainees are awarded
Certificate of Proficiency by the National Council for Vocational
Training, Ministry of Labour, Government of India and
are eligible for jobs as Craft Instructors at ITIs. Following
table indicates the trades covered, eligibility and duration of
the course.

Apprenticeship Training: Fresh Graduate Engineers,
technicians and vocational students are provided opportunity
for practical training by the HRD Ministry
(Dept. of Education) as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.
A monthly stipend is paid to the Apprentice during the period
of Apprenticeship Training. There is no guarantee of employment
after the training period.
